Update on Luke

Luke's 2 front teeth finally came in a couple of weeks ago. Now the ones on either sides of those are trying to break through. He only has 4 teeth, so he can't chew that well yet, but he sure tries. He usually wants to eat whatever we're eating. When I steam carrots and then grind them in the food processor, I have to leave small chunks or he gets mad. He won't eat anything too mushy anymore and really wants finger foods he can feed himself!

He has a bit of an independent streak... he wants his freedom to crawl around wherever he is and explore and climb. But then he'll crawl to one of us, hang on our legs to be lifted up for a hug, then he wants back down, and off he goes!

He's almost walking. We actually video-taped him taking 4-5 steps on Saturday. He'll let go of the furniture and balance for the longest time, but he's very hesitant to try to take any steps unless one of us are holding onto his hands. Half the time when we try to get him to step while holding his hands, he just goes limp and slides down to the ground so he can crawl. Apparently, he still thinks crawling is easier! Silly baby!

We had a blast yesterday afternoon at the Enon Applebutter Festival, and then heading to the park for a Wendy's picnic. He didn't want to stay on our laps and insisted on eating his food while sitting on the ground. He loves chicken nuggets, and kept setting his french fries down in the grass and leaves! Don't worry, we don't give him fast food very often.

He mastered the steps to climb up on all the playground equipment. We're in the process of teaching him to turn around to go down the slides feet first on his belly; he keeps trying to go down head first! And he just loves the swings! He was on there for a good 20 minutes or so before he wanted down; he just laughed and laughed. Of course, it helps that daddy kept making silly faces at him and saying 'I love you!'
